What a fabulous, fabulous, high energy, inspiring speech at SSWBN professional day by Kathleen! Loved it.
Kathleen ; you’re amazing .
Your work is outstanding. You are an amazing mother, role model, and confidence coach. You came to my camp (Camp Pembroke an all Jewish girl overnight camp) in the summer of 2009. From affirmations to visualizations, to loving ourselves, the things you said and taught us were incredible. My camp friends and I tried to say the “helloooo gorgeous today is going to be a great day” to each other as often as possible that summer and this past one as well. I still remember the i gotta feeling song you dance to while passing out beads. You are just an incredible person. Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to not just my camp, but all of the other camps, schools, girls, and women that have been so influenced by you. You are an inspiration to everyone in the world, continue your amazing work.
i had the most amazing experience, you really changes what i thought of other people and myself. I’m very happy that i had the chance to get to meet you! I feel a whole lot better of myself as well. I hope I will have the chance to come back next year and listen to you again.

The thing i remember the most is learning to love yourself just the way you are. you made me understand that if your “friends” don’t like the way you are, than they’re not your true friend. i went to the conference because i thought that it was just an excuse to get out of school that day, but then i had such a great time. i had a completely different aspect of life now, because of you. hearing the story of the girl that killed herself just because of the way she spoke, makes me want to go out and make the world a better place. thank you so much again to come and speak to us at the conference.

i would just like to say thank you so much for coming to speak with us at the diamond girls conference. it was amazing listening to everything you had to say and you made an impact on my every day thoughts and decisions. you mentioned one quote while you were talking and it goes through my head almost everyday, “i choose love over fear”. you really helped me understand that its okay to be me and i don’t need to live up to someone else’s expectations. i try to wake up everyday with a great attitude and make the best out of that day. i feel like i have a more positive attitude towards life and that is all thanks to you. i am so glad that i went to the diamond girls conference because it was such a fun, great experience and i really walked away that way with a totally different aspect on life and how i should just be me. im so glad you were the one picked to talk to us. i would like to thank you again so much for speaking to us and telling us everything a middle school or high school girl need to hear. hopefully, in the future i can see you speak again.

You opened our program with bright eyes and a welcoming heart. right off the bat you jumped out with excitement to make us “diamond girls” shine. you shared stories, advice, and words of wisdom to make us believe how truly wonderful each one of us is. i appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to do this for us. it meant the world to me and to many other girls as well. you inspired me to be happy, excited, to love who i am, and who i will become. you showed no fear in letting loose and expressing who you were. it made the day more enjoyable and memorable. i hope to keep in contact with you because you truly have changed my outlook on my own life. thank you for that gift.

You were an inspiration to me and every other girl that attended it! i would love to see you again and have you talk to thousands of other teenage girls. because of you right before my soccer games i think positive, i feel like it makes my team be positive too! for those who did not attend this wonderful field trip missed out on a lot. now when i look at teen magazines i always wonder what they really look like! i hope that one girl who emailed them got her way, and they put what photos were edited. some of your stories were stories that you don’t hear everyday, but they make girls keep going for their dreams. thank you again!

Kathleen, it’s taken me a couple of days to fully process the wonderful transformational evening we experienced with you the other night…it really was MAGNIFICENT!!! I do feel very blessed that you were able to facilitate such an inspirational program with the girls (and Moms) at our annual event! My inbox is full of emails and my phone has not stopped since Thursday morning with people passing along kind words about the program you facilitated. Every soccer, baseball, softball, dance practice I attend, someone has either heard about the evening, or was there and says how wonderful it was! I believe that everyone who attended, felt inspired when they left that building!
Since I also work at the school, I had the unique opportunity to talk with the girls the next day and see what they were saying after having a night to think about it. Everyone loved you, loved the program, and based on their comments I could tell that there was some aspect of the night that resonated with each of them. I was overwhelmed at one point in the day when I saw a couple of the girls doing the hand gestures to Dream-Believe-Receive-Achieve at recess! The teachers were all asking questions about the program as well, since the girls were so enthusiastic about how much they loved it!
I also had a mother say to me on Friday that she was thrilled to hear her daughter say that she really felt “good” about herself after leaving that night; especially since her daughter has been dealing with anxiety issues this year, and has been working with a therapist. She said “Mom, Kathleen said a lot of the same things my therapist says…” It really helped her to hear a similar message from another source - especially one who knows first hand that life can be hard - but you can deal with it. Another Mom commented on how she liked that message the most as well - she said “I loved that Kathleen didn’t sugar-coat anything for the girls…telling them they will face hardships, but that they will be able to get through them” was refreshing.
On a personal note, I know that my daughter, Emma loved it and was definitely walking out of the auditorium that night feeling"mah-velous!” especially with the renewed sense that she is capable of anything she sets her mind to. It was late by the time we got home that night, and Emma was having a hard time winding down and falling asleep, so she jumped into bed with me and we were chatting about the night (another memory I will treasure from that night!). One of the things that struck her the most was how positive you are, especially given the fact that you faced so many hardships at such a young age. Thank-you for sharing your story, it really made an impact!
Jennifer Hall, President Kingston PTO, Chairperson Mother/Daughter Coming of Age Program
I highly recommend Kathleen as a keynote for events such as our Young Women’s Leadership Conference. This is her 5th year in a row presenting to the girls of York County. It is a challenge to keep this age group of 1500 7th grade girls engaged and Kathleen did a tremendous job doing just that. The keynote has to be an expert in working with this age group, understanding the issues, and communicating the key messages, but also be entertaining and able to earn their trust. Kathleen accomplishes all of those things and really connects with the girls. They were lining up for hugs and asking for her autograph after the event!

I cannot begin to express my appreciation and admiration for your presentation at our Diamond Girls Young Women’s Leadership Conference. I’ve been in the business world for over 20 years and it takes a lot to impress me and you really impressed me! The girls were deeply moved by the day’s events and I am certain that these young women will remember your encouraging words of wisdom and advice to guide them in their future endeavors. You have made a huge impact on all of them… myself included.
This conference would not have happened without you! You were specifically chosen because of the passion you have for your profession and the excellent reputation you hold in the community. What a wonderful example and role model you are for each one of these young women who will soon have to make very important decisions about their future, both personally and professionally.

“Dream Believe Achieve Receive. Those words really did touch my heart. I feel so inspired to be a girl after what you thought me. You just made that day the best day flat out. You made me think that who needs a man in their life when you have yourself. Hearing what you said about how rough your life was just really touched my heart. I learned to dream bigger because the only way that my dreams won’t come true is if I don’t try hard enough. So thank you for being you and not being afraid to dress the way you do and act the way you do you are an inspiration to any girl who hears you talk. I love you more than I love guys.”

“Thank you for coming to the Diamond Girls Conference. It was very entertaining and enjoyable to hear what you had to say. You made everyone in the room feel great and special about themselves. I learned a lot of interesting things which I now use to boost up my confidence. Now I tell myself everyday positive things and it makes me feel good about myself. I also wanted to thank you for the exercises we did they were very helpful. You are such an inspiration I wish I could be as outgoing, and motivational as you. I just wanted to tell you that this year I made the JV soccer team. The coach on Varsity wanted me to play with them the day after the conference. I went in with a positive attitude and confidence like you had said. Because of your help I’m now on the Varsity team permanently. I just really wanted to tell you thank you so much because if it wasn’t for you telling us girls that we can do everything if we just ‘Dream, Believe, Receive, and Achieve!’”
Thank you for everything and I can’t wait until your book comes out! I hope to see you next year at the conference. And I’m truly happy to call myself a Diamond Girl.

Dear Kathleen Hassan,
Thank you so much for speaking to my class mates and me at the Ritz “Diamond Girls” conference. I really enjoyed hearing all you had to say. You gave me a positive way of looking at things not so positive. I hope I see you at a conference in the future. You were very lively and fun and brought life to the conference. I loved how you made the conference exciting. I could really tell that you put a lot of time and effort into your presentation. You were very outgoing and fun. I really hope that your son plays on the Red Sox and comes in to speak to our class that would be extremely cool.

Dear Kathleen Hassan,
I would like to say thank you for coming to the Diamond Girls conference. It would have not been fun without you! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to come! What you said made me feel so much better about myself! I am a very insecure person, but I have to remember that everyone is beautiful in their own way. You said a couple of things that I can relate to completely. For example how you said that a girl killed herself. You also mentioned the eating disorder rate has gone up quite a bit for girls. I know a few people who have struggled with that for a while now. We need to be reminded that in isn’t US who are ugly, but SOCIETY. Like you said, most photos are photo shopped/ edited and it makes us girls feel insecure. Anyways, thank you for coming and making the experience incredible.

Dear Kathleen Hassan,
Thank you so much for speaking to all of s girls and encouraging us to be the best we can be. I really appreciated your enthusiasm and kindness to everyone. It was a lot of fun listening to you and hearing how great the future can be. The things you told us really helped me to understand that my future is precious and I can do anything if I put my heart into it and try my best. My favorite thing we did was the “Dream, believe, receive, achieve.” I will always remember that. I’m really glad that you decided to be our speaker at Diamond Girls. You really changed my outlook on the future and I’m sure many other girls too. I am so happy I decide to go to Diamond Girl, because if not, I wouldn’t have the knowledge and techniques I know now to become successful. I hope you are doing good and thank you for taking your time to read my letter.
